I’ve always been dreaming of one thing, only one thing, since I was a kid: traveling to the whole world. It may seem impossible, but I always believed that I could. The only problem was that I had no money; I’m from a poor, rural family. I always went to those coming to our village to give us charity and more. Sometimes, they talked about their travels and adventures where they traveled for, and I listened to their longing, but then, I would go to a lonely place and cry as much as I could. I was angry with myself; why was my destiny like this? Couldn’t I change it? Was it that hard? Couldn’t I leave this village?

One day, I decided to leave this village and go to the city. I had to, but this was impossible because it was even dangerous for me to leave the village alone! Even though I was 14 years old, I wasn’t that little! But I would go to the city to be urban, to study and have my job, become rich, and travel the whole world! The next morning, I went to my family and bravely told them: I’m going to NY, have my job, become rich, and travel wherever I want! My family laughed at me, and my big brother said: ‘Pardon? How old are you? Only 14! And yes, you’re crazy. Did you have a nightmare? Oh, poor you!’ when I was full of hope, I bowed my head & yelled: ‘I will! İ will, and you’ll see!’. At that time, a group of people came to investigate our village because there were historical monuments. I went to one of them, her name was Emila: ‘Hello, I’m Jack, can we talk about something in a lonely place?’ Emilia responded with a patient voice: ‘Of course, let’s go!’

We went to a quiet place, and I started talking: ‘Miss Emilia, I have a dream which everyone makes fun of, but I think that I can, and I will work for it,’ but she asked: ‘What’s your dream buddy?’ at first I was a little nervous to tell her, but then decided and said: ‘as you see, I am from a poor rural family, I can’t even go out my village alone! And my dream is to travel the world and see everywhere I want without thinking or worrying about money and limitless time!’ she was listening carefully: ‘Why do you dream of traveling the whole world? Do you have a logical reason? What is the reason that excites you about this?’ I didn’t wait for even a second to answer because I had a reason to: ‘I think the world is too big to stay in a small village for the rest of your life; I want to learn more, I want to know about every culture and every country, language, habits, hobbies, traditions, sports, even those smartphones you use, but the only obstacle is I am poor and have no power at all! I want to go to NY, work there, have my job, and make my dream come true!’ Emilia was quiet at first; I thought she would reject me and make fun of me like others, but then she told me something I would never forget for the rest of my life: ‘You can do this! You have enough power to do all these you talked about! I will gladly help you, but I want to ask some questions: what grade are you in? You’re in school, aren’t you?’ said Emilia. I was surprised! For the first time, someone believed me, and I said: ‘No, I’m not; as I told you, I want to go after my dream, not after some stupid books and pens,’ I said to Emilia. She smiled: ‘You’re wrong, dear. School is not wasting time. Do you want to hear my story? How I became a geologist?’ I wanted, of course, that was exciting: ‘Basically, my family is wealthy, my big brother is a businessman, another is a veterinarian, and my sister is an engineer; when I got my result, I could choose the university I want, without worrying about money or anything else, but my dream job was becoming geologist, there was a lot of reasons to choose that career, investigating and learning new things is exciting, but my family refused it, they wanted me to become a doctor, and I left home, I run after my dream, went to geology college, and here is where I am! I’m very happy with my job, and my family understood me for my decision. Look what I will tell you and listen carefully; I have a better choice for you than killing yourself by working. I’ll take you to my family, stay with them, and study in NY’s best middle school. I recommend you become a doctor because it has two advantages: first, you will be happy helping others, and I see that you love helping others. And second, you will gain great money, but this will take time if you are patient, you will do your best for this job, and this job will be comfortable for you because I have watched you for some time, you like adventures, getting things done, helping people, and much more, this job is suitable for you. Also, you can benefit from it because it has limitless knowledge!’ that was the greatest opportunity ever! I would accept it, of course! But I was worried about my family; what would they do without me? Because I was a shepherd and making some money, besides that, I had two little sisters; how would I leave them?

The next day, Emilia came to my house and talked with my parents: ‘Sir, I’m here to tell you something, your son Jack came to me and talked about his dreams. I was impressed when listening to him; he has wonderful dreams and has to make them come true. I want you to let Jack come with me to NY. I will allow him to study in the best middle school in NY; he will live in my house, and I will give him anything he wants. I only want you to let him, please.’ My dad started talking: ‘What are you talking about? he can’t come! My son is not coming! I don’t let him!’ I knew it would be like that, but Emilia continued: ‘I understand you; I’m sure there are logical reasons you don’t let him come, but by letting him, you will do the best thing in the world for your son! He’s clever; if we give him enough opportunity he needs, miracles will happen; he wants a lot, please sir, let him.’ My father seemed to be convinced. Emilia continued: ‘You won’t be regarded, sir, I make you sure.’ They thought for a while, and finally, they agreed! They were convinced to let me go with Emilia! That was the best news for me in the world! I hugged her and said: ‘Thank you very much, Emilia, thank you so much!’

We were going the next day. I prepared myself, and Emilia helped. Then, night came, and I had to sleep, but I couldn’t!

I was awake at 5! I brushed my teeth, wore my best clothes, and felt like a gentleman! And we were ready to leave! And we hid on the road to the airport, everything was amazing! It was my first time seeing places like that, and I entered the airplane. I was afraid a bit; everything was new for me, and I was inexperienced; as you know, when we finally got onto the plane, I was scared! How would this massive thing fly? But when it started to move, I held Emilia’s hand strongly, but she said: ‘Don’t worry, planes are even safer than cars, enjoy and look out! These beautiful clouds, mountains, and soon we will see the ocean!’ That’s when I calmed down and enjoyed my flight. Also, the food was delicious.

After several hours, we arrived in NY; it was all crowded! It was the first time that I saw such a crowd! I was amazed at everything around me. Then a car came, and we went to Emilia’s house. OMG! I can’t describe how amazing it was, all those rugs, sofas, furniture, and more that was mind-blowing!

After a while, Emilia introduced me to the house, all the rooms, the kitchen, the dining room, the salon, and the backyard, and finally, with her family: ‘Oh, hi! Welcome to Johnson’s family! Emilia told us everything about you: don’t be shy, act like the house is yours, and whenever you need something, come and tell me, indeed,’ said Mr. Dave, Emilia’s father. After having a great lunch, we went to the city’s biggest stationery & bought everything I needed; then we went to Stowe Middle School. I registered and started the next day, a new beginning for me!

I started in 8th grade. It was a bit hard for me to get used to, but I only needed time, and yes, I have friends now. Bob, Steve, Liam, and Sophia. They’re really good friends, they help me a lot, especially with my homework, and with life in NY, and even after school we all went to a café near school, and we all studied there sometimes until the café closed! Our purpose was studying; you might ask why I was studying hard. I hated school, but then I changed my mind; maybe the school’s environment helped me to love it, and I can say that everything was great there; there was no reason not to love, I think!

Little by little, I got used to everything in NY. There were amazing things, and I had time to go and see around; the most amazing thing for me was that NY was awake every time! Roads were full of people, and sometimes car shows were on, which was my favorite show!

Many things changed, including my habits, hobbies, etc. Everything was fine until one day.

Emilia came to my room with haste, she was worried and sad: ‘Jack, you have to go to your village, your mom is sick, very sick, she’s about to die, she needs you. I bought three tickets, took two friends, and went quickly. At that moment, I dropped my phone, shaking and sweating; I immediately took my backpack and called Mr. Dave, who came and hugged me first. Emilia told my friends to come, they all wanted to, but two of them had to; Sophia and Bob came with me.

We arrived at the village, I ran to my home, and Mom was lying in bed! Her face was as white as snow; she was very weak and sick. I bent down and kissed my mom: ‘Mom? I’m here, Jack! Look, I came to you, dear mom, look, I have new friends from NY, Bob and Sophia, they also came to visit you’ My mom was very happy to see me again; her eyes were tearful, and she told us her last words: ‘dear Jack, I was always proud of you, and your sisters also, you have to take care of them and take them with you, you’re a loyal boy and merciful, I’m proud of you my dear family, and you the most my husband, loved you very much until know with all my heart, I hid from you that I was heart patient I didn’t want to make you sad because of it I’m sorry, I love you all, I love you, my family, go after your dreams, do whatever you want in this life, never give up on your purposes, especially you Jack, go after your dreams son, life is short, do your best my beloved family’ she closed her eyes and opened never! She passed away, I don’t know, and I can’t describe the pain in my chest; I was down; I was so close to achieving my goal, and at that moment, she passed! That’s not fair! She wasn’t only a mom to me but a friend, a close friend to me; I was really bad; I didn’t want to go back to NY, then Emilia came and said: ‘Jack, you don’t have to behave like that, what would your mom say if she saw you like this? You have to return to NY and finish what you started; your mother died of heart disease; don’t you want to make your dreams come true? Didn’t she want that from you? You have to finish school and become a successful heart surgeon to prevent others’ health, and what about flying? Your mom would be proud of you if she could see you learning all new things and seeing new things; you have to do this for your mom, Jack; you have to return and achieve your goals!’ she was right; I shouldn’t give up when I was close enough!

I stayed in my village for a week, and for the last time, I went to Mom’s grave; I promised her that I would become a doctor and travel to the whole world, and crying over her grave…

We returned to NY, and I had to study harder than before and focus more on my lessons; new Jack was on.

Years passed, and I passed my grades successfully and had final exams. I was studying harder than before, 14 hours per day. Sometimes I fell asleep on my books, and a few times I fainted, but it was deserved; everything was perfect, the exams were going quite well, and the night came to get our results back, me, Bob, Liam, Steve, and Sophia were waiting, the result was surprising, we all could get into medicine school! We all wanted this for a long time; I think I can say since we met! And we all decided to study at one university! And we were lucky to be all in one class until university was done! We became heart surgeons and worked at the same hospital as a group. We lived in a big room in Mr. Dave’s house, and sometimes we could operate together! And it was time to achieve my second goal: travel to the world! All the countries possibly! So, I got my annual leave and started to travel to 150 counties. The first was to Australia, and I decided to write about my travels and make a book, so I did it in 5 years! I spent five years traveling alone; it was the best experience of my whole life. When I finally had to return to NY, I told my friends and relatives, and the next day, they were all at the airport! I hugged them and kissed my engagement to be married! Sophia! I fell in love with her… after two weeks of resting, I reviewed my book and published it; in less than a month, it became a New York best-selling book! I was proud of myself, then I bought a big house that had four floors! That was one of the best houses ever; each floor was for one of us, and the 4th floor was for Sophia and me because we were married! 3rd floor was for was for Liam, 2nd was for Steve, and 1st was for Bob.

Each of us had an interesting hobby, and I danced and played DJ and House most of the time at home. Liam was manic for video games when he had time, and he was a famous gamer with a YouTube channel of 20 million subscribers! And sometimes, he was inviting other gamers and YouTubers to his floor. Steve loved DIYs, most of his things were recycled, and he loved crafting; of course, Bob was the wise man among us; he had nearly 2000 books on his floor and many stories, poems, novels, and much more, apart from that we had an enormous back yard for all of us or when someone was invited. We had a perfect life based and structured on really hard times & tata! One year later, they all got married! Sophia and I married for the second time and only partied with them in wedding clothes! And it was the biggest party I’ve ever seen, and we went home with our big bus! We and our wives had our car and a big garage; the bus was for when we were all going out together, and want to be more surprised? Our wives were heart surgeons also! And after a year, we all got twin babies at the same time and date! I can say no one was a big sister or brother! Me and I became fathers to twin boys, Bob and Steve, and to girls! Mine’s names were Oscar & Oliver, Liam’s were Matthew & Michael, Bob’s were Madison and Morgan, and Steve’s were Isabella and Emma! We were all suffering life with 16 people. My final word is that I couldn’t reach all my dreams if I couldn’t talk to Emilia and convince my parents to leave my village. I have a great life, but it wasn’t hard to get; sometimes, I spent hours in surgery, sometimes we were down, and we couldn’t study, and sometimes we weren’t studying for no reason! But you and we must know we can get anything in this world if we work for it, so go after your dream!
